Spine Donated for Use in Researcher

Atlanta-A very rare spinal donation was made yesterday in Atlanta from an animal rights group, the Primate Freedom Project, to one of the most unproductive vivisectors in the nation.

Citing what a Primate Freedom Project spokesperson said was an ‘’obvious case of no backbone‘’, PFP decided to donate a spine to Yerkes’ Director Stuart Zola so he might have the courage to accept PFP‘s invitation.

The plastic backbone was attached to a 2’ x 3’ hand-written invitation to Zola with the following message:

Director Zola,

Numerous invitations to discuss animal experiments have been extended to you and Emory. We have received no reply and have reached the conclusion you have no backbone. Please accept this attached spine and use it in a debate with Dr. Ray Greek. Call us when you are ready,

Jean Barnes

The invitation was deposited with the DeKalb County Police who were protecting Zola and the Yerkes Center from the peaceful protestors. The police were asked to make sure Zola receives this donation.

For years, the Primate Freedom Project has extended invitations to Emory and Yerkes to discuss animal experimentation in a public forum so Emory students, media and other interested persons might hear both sides of this issue. Emory and Yerkes will only discuss this topic with people who agree with them as they are keenly aware it is indefensible.

PFP spokesperson, Jean Barnes, stated yesterday, ‘’we don’t expect Zola to accept because he is a coward and he realizes Dr. Greek will mop up the floor with him.” Dr. Greek, a former animal researcher himself, is founder and president of Americans For Medical Advancement and has discussed this topic in a public forum with numerous animal researchers around the US. Dr. Greek’s expertise in medicine and research obviously intimidates Zola and others at Emory and Yerkes.
