The Fauna Foundation Chimpanzees The Fauna Foundation has become home to a number of chimpanzees who survived biomedical research. To date, Primate Freedom Tag wearers have been less than successful concerning the histories of the chimpanzees from Yerkes, the NIH Primate Facility in Alamogordo, New Mexico, MD Anderson Cancer Center, or New Iberia. These facilities -- all taxpayer supported -- have been less than forthcoming with information regaring individual animals held at their respective institutions. The Fauna Foundations has provided a window into the world of biomedical research on chimpanzees by compiling and publishing the lifestories of the chimpanzees who have found their way to them.
